The Surf Club and the Gulf Shore Grill, located at 1204 to 1270 Estero Blvd, are hosting the 3rd annual cardboard boat races on Saturday, September 29th from 10 AM until 4:30 PM. If you’ve never been to one of these events you’re in for a treat! All boats must be constructed of cardboard. Boats may be rowed, paddled or sailed. Contests will include the fastest, best looking, ugliest, Titanic, free-for-all and the last boat floating. This is three sand sculpting competitions held simultaneously in some of the best sand for this purpose in all of North America. One competition is for professional level sand carvers who compete in two divisions; one for solos competitors and one for doubles teams of two. The second competition is for amateurs, with categories for teams of up to five persons each in Youth, Teen, Adult and Business divisions. Finally there is the Family division that allows for any number of members of a single (immediate) family.
