Roy Hobbs Baseball League – 2008 Dates

The Roy Hobbs Baseball League was born in March 1987. The league is a nonprofit organization that organizes baseball for adults 28 years and older. In recent years the league has varied from 8-12 teams that play a 22-24 game season, starting in June and running through November. The league emphasizes competitive play, family oriented activities, and community service. They are committed to turning the old into the young, at least at heart. Their unofficial motto is “Baseball from Tee-ball to the grave.”

The Roy Hobbs Baseball World Series is held at the Lee County Sports Complex/Hammond Stadium, 14400 Six Mile Cypress Pkwy. , Fort Myers , FL from October 26 through November 23, 2008. For more information visit www.royhobbs.com.

Second Annual Pirate Festival – 2007

Expect a non stop pirate fun weekend for the entire family! The second annual Pirate Festival will be held on Old San Carlos Blvd Friday October 5th through Monday October 8th. There is no entrance fee to attend the Pirate Festival event. Adults and children will delight in searching for buried treasure that will be worth more than $3,500. There will be games, vendors with pirate trinkets and a Professional pirate will start the events off every morning!

Sunday evening in true pirate fashion the Pirates Ball will commence. The cost to attend the Pirates Ball is $25.00 per person or $45.00 per couple. There will be a pig roast and lots of fixings on the side. All proceeds will go to the Florida’s Lions Camp for handicapped Children.

Third Annual Cardboard Boat Races 2007

The Surf Club and the Gulf Shore Grill, located at 1204 to 1270 Estero Blvd, are hosting the 3rd annual cardboard boat races on Saturday, September 29th from 10 AM until 4:30 PM. If you’ve never been to one of these events you’re in for a treat! All boats must be constructed of cardboard. Boats may be rowed, paddled or sailed. Contests will include the fastest, best looking, ugliest, Titanic, free-for-all and the last boat floating. Whether you build your own boat and participate or just come to watch the contestants, we promise a day filled with fun for the whole family! Come visit and enjoy this event! Fort Myers Beach 2007 Sand Sculpting Festival

This is three sand sculpting competitions held simultaneously in some of the best sand for this purpose in all of North America. One competition is for professional level sand carvers who compete in two divisions; one for solos competitors and one for doubles teams of two. The second competition is for amateurs, with categories for teams of up to five persons each in Youth, Teen, Adult and Business divisions. Finally there is the Family division that allows for any number of members of a single (immediate) family.
